Hooray – The new DataLion version 2022.1

The new Version 2022.1 is here! We're excited to announce new DataLion features that make working with DataLion even easier and faster! Thanks to optimized queries, the new release brings more speed to your dashboards - especially for charts with many items and excluded missing values.

At the same time, the new features make work easier for you and your team - such as the option of having weights calculated according to your specifications. And: you can now make the software updates independently at any time - with the DataLion update button!

Display data in three dimensions with the XY bubble chart

The XY bubble chart has been optimized. This chart type offers you the opportunity to display data clearly in three dimensions. Three KPIs form the basis for the x-axis, y-axis and bubble size in the chart. You can now save these three KPIs as, for example, number, sums or averages calculated in the code book and thus use them as the basis for the chart. Another question defines the different bubbles to which the data is aggregated. This can be, for example, product dimensions, brands or countries. Find detailed instructions here.

Storytelling: Link items from tables to other dashboards for intuitive user guidance

Charts of "Datatable" type now offer the option to link items to dashboards or dashboard elements. This allows end users to be guided quickly and intuitively through their reports. The settings can be made in the Chart Settings menu. Find out here in the section Tables in DataLion - Specific chart settings > Linking of table items how it functions.

Switch rows and columns in the table chart with "switch axis"

In the table chart, you can now switch columns and rows quickly and easily. The calculations such as percentages are also adjusted over the surface. You also have the option of not only hiding empty rows with the "hide empty" setting, but also hiding empty columns with "switch axis".

The setting can be made in the Chartsettings menu.

Compare data: the "Exclude filters" function is now also available for benchmark filters

Although dropdown filters are specifically designed to filter entire dashboards, in some cases it may be desirable to exclude specific charts from filtering. This possibility has existed for some time for standard dropdown filters and is now also available for benchmark dropdown filters.

DataLion creates your weights!

Calculate weights easily? This is now possible in DataLion. You can tell the system how to weight using a simple specification, e.g. according to a variable Region with RegionA been 40%, RegionB - 30% and RegionC - 30%. The definition can be entered in the project backend under Data > Weights > Weights Script Configuration.

Create support tickets more easily with Servicelinks

DataLion now offers the option to issue service links. When you write a support ticket, you can easily generate a link and thus conveniently let the support team access the relevant dashboard. The option can be found and activated in Admin-Backend > System > Service Account. The link can then be copied via the user menu at the top right. Learn more about DataLion support tickets here.

Stay up to date with the software updates

Software updates can now be carried out independently by DataLion admins. With a click on the update button in the Admin backend > Maintenance your instance will be updated to the latest state including all current improvements and new features.
